Pu’u O Hulu (Pink Pillbox)
Waianae, Oahu, HI
On April 11, 2026, Kim and I were going to hike to Ka’Ena Point Natural area from the south but the road to trailhead was closed due to a washout from recent storms. Instead we hiked Pu’U O Hulu (AKA, the Pink Pillbox) trail near Waianae. This turned out to be a great trail that steeply ascended to begin before traversing across the side of the mountain to a ridge with several pillboxes, including the Pink Pillbox. The trail after the pillboxes was along the very narrow ridgeline (only a few feet wide) that provided for an exhilirating hike. The views from the top were amazing. Really glad that we did this hike.
