Let’s face it, college is expensive! In addition to tuition, there are many seemingly hidden expenses such as room and board, textbooks and school supplies, student activities, transportation, going out with friends, and so on. For many students, college is the first time in their lives when they need to manage their personal finances without the direct help and/or support from parents/guardians or others. Likewise, they find themselves faced with the realities of long-term financial planning as they accrue student loans and other forms of debt. Learning to live like a student takes knowledge and discipline. The purpose of this unit is to familiarize students with common issues related to personal finance in college, as well as to connect them with information and resources to set them up for success.
